Joe Marino is a partner at Marino & Ehle, LLC and a highly experienced criminal defense attorney with more than 30 years of courtroom experience in Jefferson Parish. In addition to his extensive trial experience, Mr. Marino brings a unique perspective to criminal defense through his service in Louisiana state and local government. He served two terms as a Louisiana State Representative, including service as Chairman of the Administration of Criminal Justice Committee, and was also appointed to the Judiciary Committee and the Civil Law Committee. He was widely recognized for his extensive knowledge of Louisiana’s criminal justice system and his role in shaping criminal justice policy. Prior to his legislative service, Mr. Marino served as a Gretna City Councilman.

In 2023, Mr. Marino was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as an Ad Hoc Judge in Division “D” of the 24th Judicial District Court, where he presided over both criminal and civil dockets. In 2025, he was approved by the Jefferson Parish Council to serve as Interim Jefferson Parish Councilman. Mr. Marino has consistently earned a Martindale-Hubbell AV Peer Review Rating, the highest rating awarded for legal ability and ethical standards.

Criminal defense has been the primary focus of Mr. Marino’s legal career. He is deeply familiar with the Jefferson Parish criminal justice system and the 24th Judicial District Courts. In addition to his courtroom practice, Mr. Marino has held numerous leadership roles within the legal community. He served two terms as President of the Jefferson Bar Association, has served on the board of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is a certified instructor for the Gretna, Kenner, and Westwego Police Academies. He has also been a guest lecturer at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and Tulane University Law School.

Mr. Marino earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Louisiana State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a proud alumnus of Holy Cross School in New Orleans and resides in the historic district of Gretna.
